Goodwood
(23/12/08 ) Back
02-03 september 2006
This year the Sabras and Sabres are meeting in Goodwood
- UK. goodwood is a race-circuit that's been in use (even for Formula I)
untill 1966.
Each year in September the early-sixties-days are
revived and the oldies are racing again: at the steering wheel you'll notice Sir
Stirling Moss, Sir Jack Brabham, John Surtees, Phil Hill, driving-tutors of men
like Schumacher.
Those days a race could be won by a combination of a
good mecanic and a good driver.
Nowadays to win a race you need a combination of a good
driver, good mecanic, good computer, good tire-designer, good lawyers and very
much cash to pay them all and to get enough influence on the rules.
Thanks to our English friends who arranged for an early
subscription some Sabras-Sabres were to be on the spot in Goodwood.
Thanks Jaki & Tony .. and Geoff
This
year over the weekend 1st – 3rd September the meeting
will be based at Hickstead in
West Sussex
. We have chosen a comfortable hotel set in spacious grounds with its own small
leisure suite. On Saturday we plan to spend the whole day at Goodwood enjoying
the sights and sounds of the Goodwood Revival Meting. On Sunday there will be a
short drive to the Bentley Wild Fowl & motor Museum followed by lunch in a
pub in a small village adjacent to the hotel. We expect to see about nine Sabra
and Sabres over the weekend.
